Happy Canada Day!
To be true, a long weekend would have been better, but you gotta love a day off in the middle of the week - especially when it’s hot and sunny. Yes, Canada the beautiful is 147 years old. To celebrate, we are heading out to Mt. Wells to do some climbing, followed by a salmon bbq and a few Canadian brews, no doubt. So to everyone that gets a chance to go outside and play tomorrow, have fun and Happy Canada Day!
So fun! Our newest design, Indie Angels, has hit the shop!
Mario, our roaming Indie Kidz correspondent, caught this photo up in Nanaimo this weekend - a surprise birthday kidnapping by the Awesome Babe Club decked out in their Indie Angels shirts (the birthday girl is wearing the fruit salad). Thanks for the photo! You’re gorgeous, yes you are!
And sadly, we lost a few great entertainers last week. Ed McMahon, Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett - wherever you are, thanks for everything you gave us. You will be missed.
Cheers!

The whole family spent the weekend on gorgeous Salt Spring Island at my folks place to celebrate my amazing mom’s 60th birthday. We had a full day of music, food, dancing and playing hacky sack (mom is on the far left with the hacky sack). Everyone got in on the action. I say this all the time and I’ll say it again, I LOVE my family! Happy Birthday Mom!
Super coolness! Today, Indie Kidz got reviewed on Matthews Puzzle an amazing blog and resource designed around biomedical interventions for autism. I send out a warm welcome to the Matthews Puzzle community!
AND…Indie Kidz will have a new design this week. I’m calling it Indie Angels - details and pics should be up sometime Monday.
Cheers,
Lara

Check this place out! The Sooke Potholes are usually fairly packed with tubers, swimmers and sunbathers, but I guess everyone was off doing something else. We swam, enjoyed the sun and explored the awesome sculpted monolithic rock blobs without seeing more than 10 or 12 teenagers all day. The water was chilly but not freezing and boy did it feel good to kick off the month with a dip in a pristine setting. I love this island more and more all the time.
For the weekend, a trip up island to do some camping with the new gear. Mama indie’s birthday is next week and the whole family is planning a massive party to celebrate. I’ll post some pic’s when I have them.
Cheers Everyone, enjoy the sun!

What an amazing long weekend! Four of us from the women’s Monday night climbing team headed to the Skaha Bluffs near Penticton and did an amazing outdoor climbing course - including setting up anchors, lead sport climbing and placing traditional protection. All I can say is AWESOME! Our guide and instructor, Roger, was about the best teacher we could have hoped for. The weather was perfect and the climbing was sensational. Can’t wait to head back and practice my new mad skills!
I have been promising a cool Indie Kidz climbing t-shirt and I think I have some ideas, so stay tuned.
But first, the Indie Kidz Canada Day t-shirt is imminent. This will be one for the history books! It’s gonna be sweet.
Cheers,
Lara

Hi there!
I came accross a really neat website today called Artificial Owl - The most fascinating abandoned man-made creations + Their story & location. I love Fridgehenge, a scrap metal replica of Stongehenge made of old refridgerators that sat somewhere near Sante Fe, though apparently it has recently been dismantled. Check it out here.
